Singing is my second passion.
Although I wanted to run away with a rock band when I was 14, I really didn't discover my voice until I was 40. At that point in my life, I came home from work every night and sang for hours. After several months of this, I felt like if I didn't let it out I was going to explode, so I found a really wonderful voice coach, George Evanish.
After a year of voice lessons, he invited me to take his group class, where students had to sing in front of each other. I was very nervous, but got great feedback. The next step was our homework assignment: karaoke. He said it was a great way to learn how to hold the microphone, how to stand, how to choose songs that the audience would respond to, etc. Did I mention I was nervous?
But the first time I got up to sing, the entire room stopped what they were doing and turned around. Other than my voice, you could hear a pin drop. That's when I knew I was getting it right. It was a great feeling. After that class, I joined a rock band, Aftermath, and sang backup with them for 15 months, while working in the studio on their second album. I also had guest solos with several local rock and country bands. Today, singing is still my passion. In addition to singing at church I sing at open mics at local bars.
Here are some samples of my singing. All the audio tracks were recorded in professional studios whose names I can unfortunately no longer remember. Crazy was recorded at the Ryman Auditorium studio in Nashville, Tennessee. The church videos were recorded at Cornerstone Community Church in Norwalk, CT.
